The 6 Days Chandigarh Shimla Manali Tour Package is a full round trip circuit of about 800 km, covering two of Himachal’s best known hill capitals with pickup and drop from Chandigarh. Tourists are taken through Shimla’s colonial Ridge and Kufri’s snow line, Kullu Valley along the Beas river and Manali’s temples, Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel. The itinerary allows a full day of local sight-seeing in each town, rather than rushing through either.
This 6 day loop breaks the two long drive days up with a full sightseeing day in each. hill town, on the two sides.
| Route | Distance | Travel Time |
|---|---|---|
| Chandigarh to Shimla | 115 km | 4–5 Hours |
| Shimla Local (Kufri, Green Valley) | 35 km | Full Day |
| Shimla to Manali | 250 km | 7–8 Hours |
| Manali Local (Solang, Atal Tunnel / Rohtang) | 70 km | Full Day |
| Manali Local (Hadimba, Vashisht) | 20 km | Full Day |
| Manali to Chandigarh | 300 km | 8–9 Hours |
Both towns are year-round destinations and the choice of season mostly changes what’s possible on the Day 4 Solang/Rohtang excursion.
The Rohtang Pass is closed with snow roughly from December to April and always requires a permit plus extra vehicle charges when open. The Atal Tunnel route to Solang and Sissu is open all year without the need for a permit, and is the default plan for Day 4. I'd rather give it to him. Best months are April to June and September to November for clear weather across both towns; July–August can bring monsoon delays on the highway, and December–February brings snow, ideal for winter sports in Solang.
This is a mid-altitude, family-friendly circuit with no acclimatisation and just pack warm layers for the Day 4 excursion no matter the season.
| Month | Temperature |
|---|---|
| March–April | 6°C to 20°C |
| May–June | 12°C to 26°C |
| July–September | 14°C to 23°C |
| October–November | 4°C to 18°C |
| December–February | -5°C to 10°C |
The Chandigarh–Shimla and Shimla–Manali highways (NH-5/NH-3) are well maintained all the time, with continuous hairpin bends on hill stretches. Beyond this is Rohtang Pass which is a rough, seasonal mountain road. The Atal Tunnel is a smooth, well-lit two-lane tunnel open in all weathers.
The tour commences and concludes in Chandigarh which is well connected by air, rail and road transport from Delhi, Amritsar, Jaipur and other major cities. If you wish, we can provide you with a custom pickup from your hotel, the railway station or the airport.
| Location | Altitude |
|---|---|
| Manali | 2,050 m |
| Shimla | 2,276 m |
| Kufri | 2,510 m |
| Solang Valley | 2,560 m |
| Atal Tunnel (South Portal) | 3,060 m |
| Rohtang Pass (optional) | 3,978 m |
The Atal Tunnel route to Solang and Sissu does not require a permit. If you'd like to do a trip to Rohtang Pass, you'll need a permit, which can be booked online (extra cost) for 1–2 days ahead at rohtangpermits.nic.in.
Shimla has hotels for every budget along Mall Road and the Ridge. Manali offers everything from riverside budget guesthouses to resort properties near Old Manali and the Mall.
All major networks – Jio, Airtel and Vodafone work reliably in Chandigarh, Shimla, Kufri, Manali and Solang Valley. Coverage inside the Atal Tunnel and around Rohtang can be iffy.
No. Rohtang is closed with snow for several months a year and even when it is open, requires a separate permit. On the regular Day 4 itinerary, you’ll pass through the Atal Tunnel to Solang and Sissu, with Rohtang Pass as a seasonal add-on.
Of course, the itinerary is flexible; just tell us what you’d rather do at the time of booking and we’ll fit it into the day-by-day itinerary.
Sure. All the way the altitudes are moderate, and each town gets a full day, which makes the pace comfortable instead of rushed.
This is a round trip beginning and ending in Chandigarh with dedicated local-sightseeing days in both towns. Our shorter Shimla to Manali package is a one way transfer with a lighter Shimla leg.
This 6 day package covers approx 800 kms round trip from Chandigarh via Shimla, Kufri, Kullu Valley and Manali and back to Chandigarh.
