You can visit both towns throughout the year, but the Solang and Atal Tunnel trip completely changes character from one season to the next.
Atal Tunnel is open throughout the year but Rohtang Pass itself closes in snow roughly from December to April and needs a separate permit and extra vehicle charges when it is open and chosen in place of the tunnel route.
Best months April to June and September to November for clear weather. July–August can see monsoon delays on the Shimla–Manali highway, and December–February is snow time—great for skiing in Solang, but drives take longer.
This is a family-friendly, moderate-altitude itinerary; no acclimatisation is needed, but warm layers are advisable for the Atal Tunnel and Solang excursion in any season.
| Month | Temperature |
|---|---|
| March–April | 6°C to 20°C |
| May–June | 12°C to 26°C |
| July–September | 14°C to 23°C |
| October–November | 4°C to 18°C |
| December–February | -5°C to 10°C |
This is a family-friendly moderate-altitude itinerary and does not require any acclimatization. However, warm layers are recommended for the Atal Tunnel and Solang excursion in all seasons.
This package begins from Shimla and ends at Manali. If you wish to continue your journey from Manali, or require a custom pickup point instead of Shimla, like Chandigarh or Delhi, we can arrange that for you.

The normal way is through the Atal Tunnel, which remains open all year around and does not require a permit. If the pass is open, you can add a Rohtang Pass excursion subject to permit availability and at an additional cost.
Yes. Altitudes are moderate all along and the pace combines days of sightseeing with a full free day in Manali for cafes and shopping.
Depending upon the season, you can try your hand at paragliding, zorbing, skiing and snow tubing at Solang Valley. These are paid activities at the venue and not part of the package price.
