Important Note
Shimla is an easy hill station for families and this itinerary is light on driving each day. Roads are good, but hairpin bends are normal on all hill routes - please bring motion sickness medication if needed.
Shimla can be visited any time of the year. In July and August, monsoon rains and sometimes landslide delays occur on the Chandigarh-Shimla stretch, so we build in extra buffer time during these months. Snow can fall between December and February, which is beautiful but slows down driving – winter travellers should bring warm layers and expect flexible timings.
The itinerary is relaxed and there is no high altitude travel so it is equally suitable for families, senior citizens, honeymooning couples and first time hill travellers.

Road Conditions
The Chandigarh-Shimla highway (NH-5) is a good hill road with continuous hairpin bends but no bad or unpaved sections. The roads to Kufri, Mashobra and Naldehra in the vicinity are narrow but well maintained. Landslide-related delays may occur during the monsoon (July-August).
